This past weekend, I was invited by several of my Brown andBrown PLME clients to Brown University Family Weekend! What a great experience to see my clients and their parents enjoying the Brown campus and Thayer Street together!
After two months on the campus, students were happily sharing their lives with their parents, siblings and aunts and uncles! I enjoyed attending the many academic forums, sporting events and the Brown-sponsored evening WaterFire with them.
After all our hard work together, it’s so great to see my clients and their families enjoying my alma mater!

Many colleges and universities are providing an option for applicants to submit a video admissions essay aka application essay videos or college application videos with their admission applications. These colleges/universities include: Goucher College, Tufts University and George Mason University.
In this blog, we will discuss Brown’s video option, since we recommend that all of our clients who are applying to Brown (and specifically Brown PLME) create amazing videos.
Brown University Admissions states this on its website: ” [Brown] encourages applicants to submit a two-minute personal video introduction as an additional component of their application…The video introduction gives you an opportunity to tell us more about yourself, in your voice, beyond the information you provided in your application. Sharing a two-minute personal video is a helpful way to show us who you are and why you are interested in attending Brown…..As with any aspect of the admission process, there is no specific topic or format we are hoping to see in your video introduction….anything else that will allow us to get to know you better. No two Brown students have the same story, and we don’t expect that any two video introductions will either.”
Dr. Lowe, through weekly Skype sessions, continually prepares his clients through interview prep, including etiquette, manners and non-verbal cues, as they plan for successful college application videos!
Here are elements to consider for your college video production:
Marketing Tool: Your video is a marketing tool. It’s a form of media-messaging. As an effective marketing tool, your video increases your brand recognition, helps you effectively reach and connect with your target audience – admissions officers. It can provide an admissions edge over your competitors.
Script Development: The essential part of every video presentation is the script. An excellent script will make your video more concise. It gets your message across succinctly and tells your unique story. You should, therefore, develop the best narrative for your video so that you can describe your character and personality effectively from beginning to end to your target audience – Admissions Officers!
Video Takes: All videos are reviewed by the collective effort of: Dr. Lowe and his teamelocutionists, actors, writers, musicians, ethnomusicologists, musicians, marketing and advertising professionals, public relations and personal brand professionals, short film directors and producers, scriptwriting and screenwriting professionals, makeup artists, psychologists, linguists, image consultants, anthropologists, admissions professionals, student-interns and librarians.
Brown PLME Acceptance: If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a successful two-minute video is worth an acceptance letter.
How much is a successful two-minute production worth to you?

One of our (many) clients who currently attends Brown PLME reminded me that when we first met (when he was still in high school), Brown PLME was his dream school. Now he is LIVING the DREAM!
When his parents and relatives visit him, they enjoy dining at Kabob and Curry, because its authentic Indian cuisine is like his ”grandmother’s cooking”.
For juniors who are interested in applying to Brown PLME, we encourage you to read: “Are You Brown PLME Ready?“

I am writing this blog because many parents contact us about Brown PLME. Many parents are aware that Brown PLME is one of the top direct BS/MD programs if not THE top BS/MD program. We find that many students, after visiting several direct BS/MD programs, remark that “Brown PLME is where they want to be”. As Brown graduates, and admissions advisors who have clients who are currently at Brown and have graduated Brown and are now in their medical residencies or practicing medicine, we KNOW Brown is a special place!
So the real question here is: DO YOU WANT TO BE BROWN PLME-READY?
It’s that simple!
