The fact that Dr. Lowe and his team helps his clients get on this career track while in high school through BS/MD admissions Advisors is one of the reasons why he has been in practice for 27 years.

For H-4 and international high school students (F-1) this means that they will be a U.S. medical doctors – an immigration benefit, in addition to the job security.

Because of our vigilance and comprehensive strategies, my clients are ACCEPTED into BS/MD programs as well as Ivy League and competitive colleges and universities with superior pre-med programs.” – Dr. Paul Lowe

Dr. Paul Reginald Lowe is the managing director of Pinnacle Educational Center Admissions Advisors Group network.  He and his team of admissions advisors, through the admissions affiliate, BS/MD Admissions Advisors, help high school students get accepted to BS/MD programs. As a result of his continuous clients’ acceptances into BS/MD programs, his clients have considered him: BS/MD Admissions Guru.

BS/MD Admissions: Making Huge Mistakes On Why Doctor Essays

I find that even after shadowing doctors, a family member in a hospital, or the desire to be a medical doctor that students still can not successfully complete their why doctor essay.

When I review “Why Doctor Essays” of students who were rejected from BS/MD programs I find essays that are general, commonplace, disjointed. We also find even one word or a sentence the causes a rejection!

My team and I spend hours with our clients strategizing and brainstorming what should be the content of their BS/MD “Why Doctor” essays. Our clients rough drafts, therefore, correctly convey why doctor, then we assist our clients in editing and revising their essays; sometimes as much as 10 revisions. Once we are satisfied with the content, flow and cadence of the essay, we present it to our mock BS/MD admission committee which consist of former BS/MD admissions officers, Dr. Lowe and his team. This is another why our clients have greater chance to be accepted to BS/MD programs.

When parents call us to inquire about our specialized admissions advisory services and ask us what’s your price? They should consider: (1) How much it cost them for private school tuition, violin lessons, tennis lessons, karate lessons dance lessons academic tutoring and SAT/ACT prep and research opportunities and (2) Determine how they will feel if their child is rejected from all BS/MD programs including Ivy League school and highly selective colleges and universities.

What is the price of all that: (1) and (2)?

BS/MD Admissions 2022-2023 – It’s Even More Competitive

BS_MD_Programs_Competition_Dr_Paul_Lowe_Admissions_Advisor_Educational_Consultant_IECA_HECA

Each year, after discussion with admissions officers, analyzing national and global trends and developing predictive analysis, my team and I try to see the trends on BS/MD Admissions.

This year is expected to be another highly competitive year as the share number of high school students interested in BS/MD programs is increasing, while the admissions rates to BS/MD programs are expected to fall.

BS_MD_Applications_Increase_Fauci_Effect_Dr_Paul_Lowe_Admissions_Advisors

This year, there are several developments and trends that will cause an even greater competition for admissions to BS/MD programs for current juniors (class of 2023):

  • More students are deciding to pursue medicine.
  • Closing of BS/MD programs including: Northwestern HPME and Washington U. and U. Cincinnati. For this reason, the number of available beds/slots have decreased.
  • Within a particular demographic (South Asian/Indian community) more students are applying for coveted spots.
  • Programs are not just seeking top grades and SAT scores, but looking at character and intangibles.
  • Several BS/MD programs including ones at : Union College, UConn, Penn State, UPitts and have become test-optional which means that schools will be looking characteristics outside of typical grades.
  • Comments we have heard from admissions officer who review applications is that applicants are making mistakes on their Common Application: (1) Not answering the questions (2) Not understanding the supplements (3) Disconnected answers.

High school students applying to BS/MD programs typically has: high GPA, high standardized test scores, health-care-related extracurricular activities, volunteer community service, research, medical clinical experience, seemingly compelling essays, strong letters of recommendations, seemingly outstanding resumes. However, they all sound the same, and unremarkable to admissions officers

Our clients stand out because in addition to the have characteristics they have a WOW factor and pizzazz that makes them stand out as compared to other applicants! This is what makes them achieve their dream!

BS/MD Admissions – The Final Round: The Interview

BS_MD_Program_Interviews_Final_Round_Dr_Paul_Lowe

Once a BS/MD applicant is accepted to the undergraduate and the preselection phase (in some cases through being invited to the medical school essay – (RPI/Albany Med) they have now entered what we call the finals of BS/MD admissions – the interview process.   Interviews are now virtual and it’s a totally a new game. Interviews are designed to assess communication skills, specifically verbal and non-verbal skills that cannot be measured by standardized exams, resumes, transcripts or letter of recommendations.

Being invited to an interview means that you are a great applicant (on paper), but you now have to convince the admissions committee that they should choose you! Competencies like oral communication, social nd non-verbal skills, body language and teamwork cannot be measured by standardized tests, transcripts and 2-page resumes.

BS_MD_Interview_Dr_Paul Lowe_Educational_Consultant

“Students unconsciously telegraph their expressions and feelings in an interview. Within non-verbal communication, our body movements show our true thoughts and feelings. Admissions officers/interviewers can read you more skillfully than you believe you can read them. One incorrect word, one incorrect phrase, one misinterpreted expression, and it’s over – you are rejected.” – Dr. Lowe

Since each student is unique there is no boilerplate way to prepare for the interview.  You can review questions on the web, read books and even talk with friends, but unfortunately in this final round these all will be unhelpful. From our knowledge network, we know what schools are primarily seeking in future doctors.  Why do we say future doctors?  Because that’s what this interview is all about.

I have discovered that even top students do not realize that etiquette, manners and body language matter in the finals.   It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it, the etiquette and manners involved, and your personal delivery.   Sometimes what you say and how you say it may be misinterpreted. We help our clients with the proper etiquette, manners and body language to surmount the final rung of the BS/MD process.  Dr. Lowe and his team provide BS/MD Admissions Interview Preparation Sessions to help you stand out and become a finalist!

Are You Brown PLME-Ready?

Brown_PLME-Ready_Dr_Paul_Lowe_Admissions_Advisor

I am writing this blog because many parents contact us about Brown PLME. Many parents are aware that Brown PLME is one of the top direct BS/MD programs if not THE top BS/MD program. We find that many students, after visiting several direct BS/MD programs, remark that “Brown PLME is where they want to be”. As Brown graduates, and admissions advisors who have clients who are currently at Brown and have graduated Brown and are now in their medical residencies or practicing medicine, we KNOW Brown is a special place!

So here’s the question: ARE YOU BROWN PLME-READY?

For juniors, who will be applying next year, firstly, I recommend that you read: High School Juniors: Time To Get Serious About BS/MD Plans II. Secondly, you need to consider how to develop your WOW FACTOR. Thirdly, increasing your chances of admissions to a program requires expert advice, a professional who specializes in admissions to top BS/MD programs: Dr. Paul Lowe: Achieving High Acceptance Rates in BS/MD Admissions.

So the real question here is: DO YOU WANT TO BE BROWN PLME-READY?

It’s that simple!

What Happens After You Press SUBMIT on Your Application?

Submit_button_college_applications_Dr_Paul_Lowe

It’s the height of the college admissions season and students are submitting their applications for the Class of 2025! Many students are curious to know what happens after they press the “SUBMIT” button. They ask: What happens to my application?

From my discussion with admissions professionals at various schools, the admissions committees now begin the daunting task carefully reviewing and evaluating each application, including the essays, supplemental materials, transcripts and supportive letters of recommendations. For BS/MD applicants, the “Why Doctor” essay is also carefully considered. For some schools, like RPI, there will be an additional application after you submit your main application.

As a committee, they evaluate an applicant’s academic achievement, quality and potential; their characteristics and attributes. The admissions committees take into consideration an applicant’s personal background, extracurricular activity involvement, motivation, values, civic and cultural awareness, diversity perspective/tolerance, sense of self and community, attitude, creativity, enthusiasm for learning, maturity, responsibility, concern for others and risk taking. With regard to BS/MD applicants, their commitment, effort, passion and determination to be a doctor is carefully evaluated. It’s one thing to say you want to be a doctor, it’s another thing to show why YOU truly desire to be a doctor.

Medical_doctor_female_BS_MD_Admissions_Advisors_Dr_Paul_Lowe

After the evaluation process, using a holistic approach and team review assessments, they make decisions on who will be accepted, deferred (early), waitlisted (regular) or denied admission.

To many students seeking to attend prestigious universities, differentiating themselves is not an easy task. They read the same books, visit the same websites and group think in the same communities. We have observed that students (even with the help from parents) have little experience in personifying themselves and developing their WOW Factors (WF).

In the highly competitive admissions process, it’s a fact that applicants who stand out are accepted.  The cultural, intellectual, racial, ethnic and professional DIVERSITY by our design, within our team, helps us to identify what makes our clients stand out and get accepted!  Admissions committees are DIVERSE groups that seek to admit a DIVERSE incoming class of applicants.  Being diverse, and understanding DIVERSITY and how it plays out in admissions selection gives our clients a DIVERSITY COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE!  No other educational/admissions consulting firm can provide this type of advantage!
